It is an advantage to have completed Food Technology and Nutrition Level 2.
Year 13 Home Economics (HEC)
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
- To investigate many of the issues surrounding sound Nutrition and the effect that it has on the wider community of New Zealand society.
- How to use the Food Nutritional Guidelines to plan and prepare food for different lifestyles.
- How to use nutritional information to make wise food choices.
- How to look into food corporations and the effect that food and advertising have on New Zealand.
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED?
5 Level 3 Achievement Standards – 19 credits
3 internally assessed – make up 15 credits
1 externally assessed – make up 4 credits

WHAT ARE THE COURSE COSTS?
All students will be provided with the basic materials to complete the course. Where students are making special projects, they will be expected to pay for or bring project related materials/food.
