WHAT WILL I LEARN?

More in-depth knowledge about society and culture in the Spanish speaking world

Increased fluency in spoken and written Spanish

Greater confidence in reading and listening to Spanish through novels, films, and music

Topics include: recreation, young people and relationships, school systems and technology, health and food culture  


A portfolio of written texts and spoken interactions are produced during the year.

4 Level 2 Achievement Standards – 19 credits or 20 credits Proposed Course subject to change 

2 internally assessed make up 9 credits or 10 credits (student choice)

2 externally assessed make up 10 credits

WHAT COULD THIS SUBJECT LEAD TO?
Level 3 Spanish and Scholarship- It is essential to complete Level 2 prior to the Level 3 course.

Spanish could lead to a diverse range of careers e.g. international business, immigration, custom officer, consultant, translator, diplomatic service, tourism, hospitality, and many more. Learning a second language develops skills highly sought after by business, government departments and private enterprises (oral and written communication, team working, interpersonal and intercultural awareness, analytical, strategic and conceptual thinking amongst others). It also increases your awareness of your own language and makes learning further languages easier.

WHAT ARE THE COURSE COSTS?
There are no compulsory costs. It is possible that there will be an optional weekend immersion camp in Term 2 that
would cost about $160.
