Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

WHAT SHOULD I HAVE ALREADY DONE?

It is preferable that students have gained at least 15 credits in Level 1 Visual Art.

Other students will be admitted at the discretion of the HOD and on the grounds of their ability to demonstrate artistic ability.

Students who wish to take more than two art subjects will need HOD Art approval.

Students will have an interest in photography and will be willing to work with computer programmes.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

  • Practical Skills - the necessary techniques and processes needed for digital photography

  • How to generate and develop ideas using drawing processes and procedures

  • How to generate and develop ideas in a related series based on established photographic practice


HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED?

3 Level 2 Achievement Standards – 20 credits

2 internally assessed make up 8 credits

1 externally assessed makes up 12 credits

Level 3 courses in Photography and Design.
Students can gain automatic entry to Massey with L2 Excellence Endorsement.

WHAT ARE THE COURSE COSTS?
It is expected that you have a personal laptop with the appropriate processing speed (capable of downloading and running Adobe software). The school endeavours to provide appropriate devices during class time. These are desktops and cannot be taken home.
