WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Level 1 Japanese is an extension and consolidation of the Year 9 and 10 syllabi. By engaging with this subject, students develop the ability to communicate in Japanese and connect meaningfully with people in different communities around the world. Languages and cultures play a key role in developing personal, community, national, and global identities. Through Japanese, students learn how to engage with the world around them in appropriate ways and become global citizens. As students acquire the skills of both communicative and intercultural competence, they reflect simultaneously on their own personal identities and explore their own culture(s) from a new perspective. There is a focus on both spoken and written communication of personal information, ideas and opinions in different situations.

Level 2 Japanese - It is essential to complete Level 1 prior to the Level 2 or Level 3 courses. As a second language speaker you will gain entry into a diverse range of careers e.g. tourism, hospitality, diplomatic service, international business, international law, immigration, custom officer, consultant, translator, educator and many more. Learning a second language will increase your awareness and appreciation of your own language and provide you with skill sets sought after by business, government departments, especially foreign affairs and private enterprises.
