Year 13 French (FRE)
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
This course further consolidates and extends the language learning of Level 2. The main emphasis is on increasing your spoken and written fluency so that you become confident at communicating in French in a range of contexts. The course takes an in-depth look at life in the French-speaking world, and France in particular, through various media. Course themes include current events, contemporary issues such as global warming and environmental concerns, the media and entertainment, travel and tourism, employment, the history and modern day politics of France.

Level 3 French and Scholarship French can lead to further study at tertiary level. Language studies open up a diverse range of career opportunities in New Zealand, as well as overseas. Possible career paths include education, tourism, hospitality, diplomatic service, international business, immigration, customs, consultancy, interpreting and translation services, and many more. Learning a second language develops skills highly sought after by business, government departments and private enterprises (oral and written communication, team working, interpersonal and intercultural awareness, analytical, strategic and conceptual thinking amongst others).
