Year 9 Design and Visual Communication (DVC)

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Emphasis is placed on problem solving, freehand sketching, presentation skills and Computer Aided Design.

  • Solve real-world design problems.

  • Develop freehand sketching skills to express design ideas.

  • Learn to use computer programs to create high quality design outcomes.

Recommended Prior Learning

WHAT SHOULD I HAVE ALREADY DONE?

Y10 Design and Visual Communication highly recommended. Students without this prior experience must be prepared to commit to several hours at home to complete self-paced tutorials to gain essential understanding and skills.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

WHAT ARE THE COURSE COSTS?
All computer programs used in the course are provided free of charge.
Students must have a Windows laptop or Mac laptop.
Entry level laptops are suitable (chromebooks are not suitable at this level).
Students must have a standard Mouse (corded or wireless, with a wheel)
Successful students will need basic drawing tools to complete work at home, however, this is limited to black pen, pencils and coloured pencils
