Year 13 Statistics

You should check the requirements or suggestions for any Achievement Standards that you may need for Tertiary courses that you are thinking of taking.


WHAT WILL I LEARN?

How to interpret Statistics in the real world.

HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED?

5 Level 3 Achievement Standards totalling 20 credits.

3 internally assessed make up 12 credits 

2 externally assessed make up 8 credits

WHAT SHOULD I HAVE ALREADY DONE?

12MAC students will need to get at least 14 credits that includes Merit in AS2.12 Probability.

12MAS students will need to get at least 14 credits that include one Merit and at least two Achieved in these three standards AS2.12 Probability, AS2.8 Questionnaires and AS2.13 Simulations


You need to be highly computer literate and be able to use Google Docs and NZGrapher and have good English skills (at least one Merit and one Achievement in two of the following standards  AS91100, 91098 or 91099) specifically for the three internal assessments which are done over about 18 weeks.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

WHAT ARE THE COURSE COSTS?
Workbooks will be provided as a text book, but must be returned in excellent condition at the end of the year (students may opt to purchase their own copies if they wish to write in them. They will be available from Hawke's Bay Office Products at an approximate total cost of $25).
A Graphic calculator is a huge advantage in this course and if your daughter does not already have one of these, they can be purchased from Hawke's Bay Office Products at an approximate cost of $180.
